Carp Fishing 2011 Pt6 – A Spring Roundup and a 34lb Common

| Blog | August 25, 2011

Well we’ve moved into Summer now and that’s the time I tend to give the Carp fishing a rest. I didn’t take the video camera on the last couple of carping outings so this is just a way to let you know how my Spring ended. Happy with the 34 Common and I’ll be back on that lake at the end of the Summer once the crowds have moved on to finish the year off.

Carp Fishing 2011 Pt7 – Same Season, New Water

| Blog | August 25, 2011

I had a chance of taking a ticket for a new water mid way through this season so I made the move from the day ticket water I had been fishing to this new syndicate water. I always feel that this time of year can be harder than the earlier part of the year but I’m hoping that things will come good hopefully sooner than later. There’s always a learning curve on any new water and time spent on the lake will be time well spent. First impressions of the water are good and I’m looking forward to showing you some of the awesome looking Carp this water holds. This is the first five days on the water and coming up in the next video is the next few days with a bit of luck the odd fish to show you all. For more info please visit www.yorkshireangler.com

Carp Fishing 2011 Pt5 – Deep Water Carping

| Blog | August 25, 2011

Getting down to the lake the weekend after the May Bank Holiday I wasn’t looking at such a busy water but I decided to stay on the big lake due to the fish I’d caught the weekend before. The wind was pushing from the South West and there were fish showing on the end of it. This meant that again I would be fishing the deeper end of the lake in water ranging from 14 to 20ft in depth which would normally worry me in such warm weather but getting the result the weekend before from the same depth helped me get my head around that. Seeing as I had fish showing in front of me I didn’t want to get the marker or Spod rods out so I again, just as the week before, I decided to put bags on showing fish and also hit a single pop-up out at range just to cover that area of water. The fish were showing 70 or 80 yards out from the swim I was in and was easy to put small solid bags to that kind of range even with the wind in my face. It seems that takes at this end of the lake come more at night as my first take of the weekend was again in darkness at 03:15 on the Saturday morning, much the same time as the week before. One of the bags had resulted in the take and a small Common was netted, held for the camera then returned. I was happy that again I had caught from such deep water on the end of a warm wind. Much of Saturday was slow but just as I was thinking the fish had moved on I had a take, again on one of the solid PVA bag rods on the same spot that did the fish in the early morning
