Does anyone know of any books of converting fishing vessels to live aboards?

| Blog | May 15, 2011

I am in the process of converting an ex trawler into a live aboard for cruising the West of Scotland then Europe. Is there any literature on conversions of large boats? and also any on people that have travelled the world on motor boats (Not sailing please…much respect to sailors though!!)

Can anyone tell me why my panda catfish died?

| Blog | May 4, 2011

I already have a well established community tank with gregarious fish in it.2x Upsidedown catfish 1x Bronze Corydoras 3 Neon Tetras and 1 Plec. The Panda Catfish where a girt from my father who also bought himself some, they where about a year old when purchased and from a reputable seller, however my fathers died within a week of purchase and mine died after about a month, the fish are not over fed, kept out of direct sunlight, no problems with ph etc.
10 points to the person who can give me some advise on why and how it can be avoided in the future.
Thanks for the quick response Skyler,
Theres no algae in the tank, the plec takes care of that. I also forgot to add that the fish are quarantined before purchase.

Has anyone ever lost all their fish in 1 go?

| Blog | March 17, 2011

Ever since I was born my Dad has kept fish. For the first time in my life I now have no fish atoll. I once had about 40 fish. I had 10 in a little pond, 2 in a tank inside and about 30 in a big pond including 5 big Koi Carp. 2 of them ghost carp. In 2006 I cleaned my little pond out to find out that all the 9 fish I had in it at that time had gone and that it was full of newts. The newts had eaten all the fish and taken over the pond so I bought about another 8 and put slippy posts up to stop the newts. Then in 2009 my Dad came home from work and found about 25 dead in the big pond. I think an Otter came into it and took them all out. So I fished the 5 remaining goldfish out and put them in the little pond where it was safe. As for the 2 in the tank 1 died of old age and the other one died when my grandma let the water go all bad so it had no air to breath. When I moved house I had 13 left. 4 died last summer and then this winter the cold weather took the last 9 out. I found them all dead the other day and had to bury them. So has anyone else who keeps fish ever lost them all in 1 go? Also if I get some more do you know anyway I could prevent this from happening again for a 4th time?
